Tattoo Before or After a Night Out on the Strip?
It's Vegas, so I get this one a lot: should I get tattooed first and then go out, or go out and then get tattooed? Tattoo first. Come in sober, rested, and fed, get the piece done earlier in the day, and then enjoy your night. Here's why.
Why I don't tattoo after drinking
A tattoo is permanent, and I want you making that call with a clear head. I won't tattoo someone who has been drinking. Alcohol also thins the blood, which can make a session harder on your skin and harder on me. It's not a rule to be annoying. It's so the piece turns out the way you pictured it.
The morning after is not the move either
If you went hard last night, give yourself a day. Hungover skin and a hungover body make for a long, rough sitting. Pick a day when you slept, drank water, and ate a real meal. You'll sit better, and the tattoo will go better.
How to plan it
Book the tattoo for earlier in your trip, and early in the day if you can. Eat before you come in. Wear something that gives me easy access to the spot, shorts for a leg piece, a tank top for a shoulder piece. After that, go have your night. Keep the fresh tattoo out of the crush of a crowded club, since people bump into things, and follow the care steps I give you. I cover the healing basics in your first tattoo in Vegas.
Common questions
Can I get a tattoo after drinking?
No. I won't tattoo anyone who has been drinking. Come in sober and we'll take our time.
Can I get tattooed the morning after a big night out?
I'd wait. Give yourself a day to rest, hydrate, and eat well so you can sit comfortably through the session.
What should I do before my appointment?
Sleep, drink water, and eat a real meal. Wear clothes that let me reach the spot easily.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome, but an appointment is preferred, especially on a short trip. Here's how to book a tattoo on the Strip.
